EDUC8: Educate to Build Resilience
EDUC8 is an interdisciplinary, multi-track project funded by the European Union’s Internal Security Fund - Police. Its primary goal is to build resilience in children and young people against radicalisation and polarisation. By offering tailored religious and philosophical education modules, the project aims to foster understanding and prevent social division.
The Challenge
In an increasingly polarized world, there was a critical need for educational tools that could effectively address sensitive topics like religion and philosophy in a way that promotes unity rather than division. The challenge was to create a digital platform that could host diverse educational content (“Deep” and “Shallow” modules) for six different world views, while remaining accessible and engaging for both students and teachers across Europe.
Our Solution
We provided comprehensive Backend and Frontend development services to bring the EDUC8 platform to life.
Key Features
- Tailored Educational Modules: The platform hosts a complex structure of “Deep Modules” (learning about one’s own faith) and “Shallow Modules” (learning about other faiths), tailored for six different religious/philosophical perspectives.
- Dual User Roles: Distinct interfaces and functionalities for Students and Teachers, allowing for progress tracking, class management, and resource distribution.
- Digital Resource Library: A robust system for hosting and distributing course materials, including PDF books and interactive web content, ensuring free and easy access.
- EU Compliance: The platform was built to meet the strict security and accessibility standards required for EU-funded projects.
- Scalable Architecture: Designed to support a growing number of users and content modules as the project expands its reach.
The Result
The EDUC8 platform now serves as a vital resource for secondary schools and out-of-school settings. By providing a safe, structured, and accessible environment for religious education, we have helped empower educators to teach resilience and understanding, contributing to a more cohesive society.
